THE ONLY RECORDED SET OF IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY TYPE 92 SUBMARINE BINOCULARS IN THE WORLD.
This one-of-a-kind, massive set of pressure-proof 20 power binoculars, mounted on its original cradle, was manufactured by Nippon Kōgaku in January 1945 for the conning tower of an I-class submarine. Capable of spotting ships 19 km away, its 20 mm armor plating and 40 mm optical glass pressure plates could withstand the high pressures encountered on a deep dive and endure the powerful hydraulic shocks of a depth charge attack. Fully restored to concours standards, these binoculars are a unique and exceptional example of WWII naval and engineering history.
Length: 32 in. (81 cm.) Weight: 388 lbs. (176 kg.)
